Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.A. in Sociology for General sociology; M.A. in Sociology or related field with a background in Criminology for Criminology courses
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the University level appropriate to assignment
  • Commitment to and/or expertise in educating an ethically and culturally diverse student population

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Sociology or related field; academic specialization in Criminology with ability to teach general Sociology and methods courses
  • Demonstrated experience teaching courses: SOC 101 Introductory Sociology, SOC 102 Introduction to Social Problems, SOC 412 Social Constructions of Reality, SOC 433 Wealth, Status, and Power; SOC 406 Intermediate Social Statistics, SOC 407 Survey and Experimental Research Methods, SOC 408 Qualitative Research Methods,SOC 442 Homicide in America, SOC 443 Crime and Society, SOC 444 Juvenile Delinquency, SOC 445 Sociology of Deviance, SOC 446 Sociology of Criminology Organizations
  • Potential for or a strong history of scholarly research activity
  • Ability to teach large lecture courses
  • Familiarity with the CSU system

Duties:   Teach available courses (3-12 units) as needed

Probable Salary Range:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience
