OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Duke University requests a pplications for the position of Sports Information Assistantship .

The individual filling this assistantship position will be a member of the department's sports information staff and report to the Sports Information Director.

Requirements - include experience in a collegiate or professional media relations environment; outstanding oral and written communications skills; demonstrated organizational skills; and working knowledge of InDesign, Excel, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and The Automated Scorebook (StatCrew).

Responsibilities - include, but are not limitedto: serving as the primary and/or secondary media contact for multiple programs; producing media guides, game notes, news releases and feature stories; generating feature content, video and other unique coverage for GoDuke.com, the official website of Duke Athletics; responding to media requests; staffing home and selected away events; supervising statistical crews and other event support personnel; facilitating Duke’s social media outlets; compiling statistics, researching historical records and assisting the Sports Information and Digital Media staffs with additional duties.

Anticipated Start Date is August 1, 2019.

Salary for this position is $23,400 including Duke University benefits package.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires knowledge of basic mathematical, research and communications principles normally acquired through two years of postsecondary education.

Experience

Work generally requires three years of clerical or research experience OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE to acquire skills in administrative or project research responsibilities as well as accepted office organization, communications and research practices. A bachelor's degree in a field of study directly related to the specific position may be substituted for the education and two years of the experience requirement.
