Job Description:

Status:  Full-time, Exempt Position  12 month work schedule

Reports to:  Theatre Arts Department Chair

Overview: Provides support to the Theatre Arts Department and Mississippi Bend Players as they continue to build student recruitment, alumni and community relationships, and a regional reputation for programs housed in the state-of-the-art $4.2-million Kim and Donna Brunner Theatre Center.  The Coordinator also will teach courses in the Theatre Arts Department.  Position contingent upon funding from two-year grant.

Job Duties: 

  1. Works with Communications and Marketing Department to create marketing materials and increase ticket sales for Augustana Theatre and Mississippi Bend Players productions.
  2. Coordinates prospective student recruitment efforts for the Theatre Department.
  3. Develops relationships with Augustana alumni working in professional theatre in order to create connections and opportunities for current students.
  4. Works with Career Development to build a repository of resources for students seeking careers in professional theatre.
  5. Teaches three lower division theatre courses each year (e.g. Intro to Theatre, Acting I, and/or specialized topic in candidate's area of expertise).
  6. Assists Theatre Department and Mississippi Bend Players in other administrative functions that support the success of their productions.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education:

Master's Degree in Theatre Arts or related discipline.  Equivalent professional experience may be substituted.

Skills & Experience: 

  • At least five years of demonstrated experience in an educational, community, and/or professional theatre setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theatre production and marketing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in area of teaching needs; teaching experience highly desired.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of colleagues, current and prospective students, faculty members, theatre professionals, and community members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with wide range of social media channels used for marketing.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is performed in a standard office setting
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to use a computer to accomplish a variety of job tasks.

Additional Information:

Travel & Work Hours

Limited travel (less than 15%) is expected for this position for recruiting and outreach at regional events.  This position will be required to be available for evening and weekend Augustana and Mississippi Bend Players theatre productions, as well as prospective student and alumni events.  occasional campus programs or events during weekend and evening hours.  This position works a 12 month schedule with general office hours from 8 am - 5 pm.
