BUSINESS MANAGER (COLLEGE)

DALEY COLLEGE


Daley College is looking for a qualified candidate for the Business Manager position.  This position assists in protecting the financialintegrity of the College and the District’s assets at the College by carefullymonitoring the business processes and ensuring adherence to establishedpolicies and procedures. In addition, this position also manages the day-to-day operations of the BusinessOffice at the College.

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors College operating budget and manages accountingprocedures, financial systems, and internal control mechanisms.
  • Ensures alltransactions are properly posted.
  • Oversees campus payroll processing, reconciliation, andcorrections.
  • Directs staff in tracking, verifying and reconcilinggrant contract funds, deposits, donations, and other underwriting activities.
  • Reviews accounting records to ensure expenditures areposted to appropriate categories. Ensures that corrections are posted in atimely manner.
  • Oversees cash management for the college, includingcashiering functions in the business office, such as student payments and bankdeposits.
  • Provides financial reports of student payments, bankdeposits, grant funds expended, vendor payments and other transactions.
  • Schedules and supervises the work flow of departmentstaff. Supervises support staff responsible for resolving vendor and customerservice issues. Ensures completeness and accuracy of this information.Interviews and recommends hire, discipline, and termination of all staff.
  • Reviews purchasing transactions to ensure compliance withstate, federal, and District policies and procedures.
  • Interprets and communicates purchasing procedures todepartments and staff. Assists departments initiating requisitions and purchaseorders and works with Procurement Services to resolve problems with orders.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a relatedfield supplemented by 3-5 years of experience in the operation of business andfinancial affairs in higher education or an equivalent combination of educationand experience is required. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in managing state and federalgrants.
  • Three years supervisory experience.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and a proven trackrecord in fiscal planning and management. Must be self-directed, innovative andable to assess current operations in an effort to develop practical actionsolutions and improvements.
  • Must have knowledge of budget and financial planning.Must have knowledge of budgeting and accounting procedures. Must have knowledgeof report analysis and preparation.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communicationskills.
  • Must be computer proficient with knowledge of a varietyof software programs.
  • Must be able to work well within a culturally diverseenvironment with the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be able to work on a variety of projects and meetdeadlines.
  • Must be able to operate within a complex organization. 
  • Must be able to workindependently and as part of a team.
