Salary:
Payroll Technician II Salary Range: $3,101.00 to $5,290.00 per month
Payroll Technician III Salary Range: $3,529.00 to $6,019.00 per month.
Anticipated hiring salary for either position will be at the lower end of the range, commensurate with experience.
Note: Qualified applicants currently or recently employed in the CSU in a Payroll Technician II or III position with at least three years of CSU payroll experience may be considered for appointment at the Payroll Technician III level.
Note: This is a full-time, probationary, non-exempt position.
Overview:
Under general supervision, the Payroll Technician II or III independently performs the typical activities related to the processing of payroll and personnel transactions such as appointments, changes in status, leaves and separations for all categories of California State University (CSU) employees. Assignments require the incumbent to address individual situations by applying payroll/personnel regulations, CSU policies and administrative guidelines, state and federal laws, educational codes and collective bargaining agreements. The incumbent will act with diligence so that all information contained in personnel/payroll transaction forms is accurate and conforms to all relevant regulations; conduct the independent tracing, research and reconciliation of errors, and provide information and assistance on payroll processing matters to faculty and staff members.
Position Summary:
Major Duties of the job include:
o paying intermittent, full and part time (regular) employee salaries and wages, overtime, special consultant, shift differential, call back, individual lesson compensation, extended vacation and MSAs, with payments made on 12 month, 10 month, 10/12, quarterly, semester, and summer session basis;
o accounting for leave status and accruals, vacation, holiday, sick leave, jury duty, bereavement, LWOP; AWOL, military, NDIL, IDL, and compensatory time;
o Adjusting for changes in pay status, appointments, end of probationary periods, promotions, demotions, reclassifications, retirements and separations for staff, faculty, graduate assistants, student assistants, special consultants, individual lesson providers, and summer session instructors.
