Education Specialist, Upward Bound Math Science

Job description

Seeking energetic, committed professional to aid in the retention and matriculation of high school students, assisting participants with college access while facilitating activities and providing services with STEM emphasis. Desired individual will work with parents, faculty, staff, area agencies and TRIO programs while maintaining accurate records, program activities and student academic progress.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling or related field required. Two years of full time experience assisting high school students with college preparation, while working in a TRIO or related program serving a student population with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds required. At least one year of full time experience assisting first generation, low income and minority participants and parent/guardians with College admission and/or financial aid processes required. Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience including part time considered. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. This position is a Special Funded Grant until 9/30/2022. A work sample is required as part of the interview process. Hiring process includes a background check. Position is contingent upon MCC Board of Governors approval. The project prefers to employ personnel who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the target population to be served.  NOTE: College degrees obtained outside the U.S. accepted only when interpreted by transcript service members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
