About Bunker Hill Community College:

Bunker Hill Community College is a multi-campus institution with vibrant, urban campuses in Boston, Massachusetts, in nearby Chelsea, Massachusetts, and at three satellite locations in the Greater Boston area. Job Description:

The Full Time ESOL instructor (Special Programs Coordinator) provides group instruction to adult learners and prepares them to acquire the integrated English language skills to transition to post-secondary education. The full time instructor will work with part time instructors to coordinate curriculum, technology in the classroom, and tutoring for students. The instructor will work with the assistant director to coordinating bi-weekly meetings with instructors from both the Boston and Chelsea Adult Education programs and support the success of student education and career pathways. The instructor will participate in the development and implementation of the curriculum that addresses the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education (ME LPS).

The instructor will also work with instructors and staff to align existing curriculum and lesson plans to the ME LPS. The instructor will model BHCC's student centered learning philosophy in and outside of the classroom.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Align curriculum (scope and sequence, units, and lesson plans) and instruction with the new Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education;
• Select and develop appropriate materials for program use; review and update materials each semester to maintain relevance;
• Keep up-to-date on current education research and best practices;
• Coordinate instructor lessons plans;
• Collaborate with the Academic and Career Advisors to assist students in developing their individual academic and career plans;
• Attend AE program management meetings;
• Plane AE curriculum meetings;
• Attend professional development workshops and conferences;
• Develop yearly individual professional development plans;
• Coordinate tutoring program for students;
• New hires are required to attend DESE new teacher trainings.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in TESOL;
• Experience working in a diverse adult education program (ACLS);
• Ability to adapt teaching styles and materials to meet individual needs of students;
• Excellent computer/technology skills, experience in instructional design;
• Excellent organizational skills;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED

• Master Degree English or Education, possession of a teaching licensure a plus.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $47,545.00-$53,000.00 Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full state Benefits.

Grade: 4 Unit-Professional position
