Job Summary The Part-time Financial Aid Assistant reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid and is responsible for communicating with current and prospective students and guiding them through the application and enrollment process. The FA Assistant reviews FAFSA application files, provides customer service, assist with workshops and front line programs and activities.

Responsibilities
    Assists with other financial and activities such as customer service, outreach, reporting and monitoringAnswers questions, inquiries, or requests from students, parents, or guardians by phone, in person or in writing regarding financial aid programs and eligibility
    Counsels and advises students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs, indebtedness, money management and financial planning and individualizes information to the particular needs and situation of the studentCounsels and advises students about financial aid eligibility, verification, application procedures, aid programs, costs, indebtedness, money management and financial planning and individualizes information to the particular needs and situation of the studentAssists in the preparation of and presents information regarding federal financial aid, scholarships, employment and grants for various campus groups, high school students, and parents at meetings, group discussions, workshops, and recruitment sessionsAssist with various financial aid system-generated reports to verify continued compliance and eligibility of students receiving aid under federal and institutional guidelines; notifies students per Director of Financial Aid, of changes in eligibility of awards and alternatives to amend the situationBuild rapport by asking questions and listening to the needs of prospective studentsManage daily office operations and system document imaging and retrievalAssist, providing and monitoring office production reports Ability to travel and work some evenings and weekendsExcellent time management, organizational, training, and communication skills (strong writing, interpersonal, and persuasive skills)Must be able to represent AMSC in a professional manner, follow policies and procedures strictly,
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    Associate’s degree, and/or Two years of work experience in a closely related field to the duties performed. Work experience in Financial Aid preferredProficiency in MS Microsoft Office products and ability to learn other software programsNeeds to be able to successfully perform all required dutiesMust have strong interpersonal and communications skills as well as excellent organizational skills and be detail orientedAbility to multi-task, demonstrate computational ability, respond effectively in a variety of situations, and work effectively in team situationsProficiency with Microsoft Office, BannerFlexibility to work evenings and/ or weekendsDependable; possess excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills; detail oriented and take pride in quality of workPositive attitude and good interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong sense of ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality of private personal and business information
