The Supervisor, Accessioning Services will provide technical direction to the individual(s) serving as full time or part time laboratory technicians as well as to conduct technical, administrative and managerial functions under the supervision of the Laboratory Director.  Responsible for the phlebotomy, specimen processing and accessioning functions.  Responsible for day-to-day operations in Accessioning Area.  Responsible for troubleshooting of incomplete orders in timely fashion.  Able to deal with coordinators, nurses, investigators, and other customers to assist them in the process of placing orders, delivery of specimens, hours of operations, directions to IHL, sample rejection in a corteous and professional manner.  Manages the purchase, and maintenance of the laboratory stock of general supplies.

Responsible for supervising & dealing with courier services; ensuring agreed picschedules and deliveries are followed and appropriate documentation is kept.  Responsible for the orientation, training and evaluation of competency of current and new personnel in the Accessioing Area.  Keep documentation and evaluation of the employee’s competency in MediaLab Software. Responsible for keeping all Accessioning personnel workday timecards and annual performance evaluations. Assists the Laboratory Director in the management and scheduling of clinical laboratory personnel to ensure appropriate coverage and services. Performs occasional technical functions for validation and / or investigational activities related to Accessioning Processing, Software Updates and / or workflow studies. Develop, under the guidance of the lab Director, a Quality Assurance Program and Quality Improvement Program for Accessioing Area that ensures maximum efficiency and reduction of error rate. Prepare and present Turn Around Time and QA Data in monthly meeting and as requested. Assigns while also sharing the responsibility of maintaining a full range of laboratory services on selected weekends and holidays and during periods of vacation or other causes of absence of the technicians. Assigns and schedule the freezer / refrigerator maintenance in the farm and freezer room. Assist in the protocol when SensoTech Alarms are received and confirm the alarm as applicable. Keep Patient’s Appointment schedule for blood collection.  Assign and schedule phlebotomist as applicable. Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates and counsels employees effectively.  Disciplines when necessary. Mantains a safe, professional and civic work environment in the Accessioning Area. Assists in the development of departmental Standard Operating Procedures under the guidance of the Lab Director and in compliance with State, ASHI & CLIA Regulations. Assists in the development of departmental policies for employee bloodborne pathogen exposures in accordance with Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA), CDC and AABB/AATB Standards and oversees employee health exposures as needed. Responsible for record management in the Accessioning Area following State, ASHI and CLIA regulations. Other duties as assigned.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows:  Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, health or physical sciences area.  Valid Medical Technologist license issued by the State of Florida.  Three years of work related experience.
