The Scholarships Coordinator will be directly responsible for the direction of the MD program’s scholarship program, which manages and directs approximately $7 million annually in scholarship funds. This position will work in close coordination with the Director of Finance & Enrollment, the SOM Scholarship Committee and the Director of Scholarships.This position will have direct responsibility for ensuring proper and full utilization of the scholarship funds available to medical students each year. This position will ensure that funds are maximized to the benefit of the student body population, ensuring accountability and transparency in the process. This position will provide leadership in the area of donor stewardship and will liaison closely with the Medical Foundation on the many scholarship funds housed there. This position will develop and implement new processes for tracking scholarship dollars utilizing a variety of of technologies to maximize both transparency and accuracy. The individual in this position will work closely with both current and future students to provide information related to scholarship opportunities and will work to streamline and improve the scholarship application process. This position must develop positive working relationships with the SOM’s Financial Aid team and will work closely with this team to ensure the timely disbursement of scholarship funds to SOM students as part of their overall financial aid package. This position will be directly responsible for tracking encumbrances to scholarship funds and ensuring that positive balances are maintained in all SOM scholarship funds housed in both the Dean’s Office and the Medical Foundation.

Educational Requirements

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and relevant experience (5 years based on the current qualification & experience) in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience

Experience in an academic medical center is highly preferred. Five years experience in a higher education setting or other related business function. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, as well as the ability to identify and implement process improvements resulting in increased efficiencies and accuracy of data. The individual in this position must be able to manage multiple projects and maintain accurate records.
