Preferred Qualifications

5 years of related experience including supervisory and considerable experience in the operation, maintenance, and installation of air conditioning, refrigeration, and related systems or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Summary

Leads shop consisting of approximately 20 skilled trades employees responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of campus building HVAC systems and related equipment. Typical systems and equipment include: chillers, cooling towers, distributed chilled water loops, AHUs, terminal unit devices (VAV, CV, etc.), exhaust systems, dampers and actuators, and DDC components associated with sophisticated building HVAC systems. Shop also performs TAB and IAQ investigations as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment, materials, and tools of the trade.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to understand engineering plans, specifications, drawings, control diagrams, and other technical documents pertaining to the HVAC trade.
Physical Demands
  • Lift 75 lbs., extensive climbing, working in confined areas, balancing, stooping, bending and squatting.
  • Work from a standard or extended ladder.
