Detailed Description:

This is a full-time, temporary, benefit-based position with an anticipated assignment end date of June 26, 2020.

The Learning Experience Specialist is responsible to create innovative, student-centered learning experiences. The Learning Experience Specialist will work collaboratively to create high quality, academically rigorous, engaging, learner-centered curriculum and content. You will build and facilitate brand new learning experiences and strategically tailor existing products for client/regional/national context. We are targeting innovative candidates who embrace new STEAM technologies, new learning environments and pedagogies, and consider themselves experimenters, creators, change agents, and risk-taker.

In addition, the Learning Experience Specialist designs and coordinates across a series of events that include physical and digital learning experiences and environments (workshops, webinars, speaker events, networking sessions, roundtable discussions) reinforced through continuous learning, communication, showcasing. This position receives supervision from the Executive Director and the Director of Technology Strategy & Development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Designs and facilitates interactive and applied digital learning experiences, including experiences with virtual, mixed, augmented reality, and other emerging technologies, especially in STEAM.
  • Designs and facilitates learner-centered online, blended and onsite courses and workshops for adults and K–12 learners.
  • Build virtual communities of educational innovators.
  • Lead the design and implementation of innovative learning environments, including incubators, makerspaces, innovation classrooms, etc.
  • Experiment with emerging technologies, new content formats and learning models to foster highest levels of learner engagement and development.
  • Conceptualize and outline content, scripts, storyboards, and produce video and multimedia content.
  • Dissemination of content and information through social media and other distribution channels
  • Assembles, organizes, and manages information sharing and distribution for the Jacobs Institute.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years experience designing and teaching in K–12 and/or higher education environments.
  • Experience using cross-platform educational technologies, including mobile technologies and STEAM tools
  • Experience with learner-centered design models and environments, personalized learning approaches, and highly engaging and interactive digital, blended and professional learning models.
  • Knowledge of Universal Design principles, ADA compliance considerations, and copyright issues related to instructional design and virtual learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated proficiency designing and implementing courses in at least one major learning management system.
  • Excellent communicator and experience in resolving complex problems in a dynamic, team-oriented work environment.
  • Must have a digital portfolio that includes design and educational content/course samples to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, or equivalent.
  • Five years related experience in K–12 and/or higher education environments.
  • Minimum of three years experience creating and teaching online courses.
  • Familiarity with virtual, mixed and augmented reality.
  • Familiarity with game-based learning theory and design.

Tools and Equipment Used: Computers, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, smartphones, audio conferencing equipment, multimedia development equipment, photo/video/audio production and editing equipment, virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D scanners and printing, microphones, camcorders, digital cameras.
