Job Description Summary

Provides leadership and direction in the daily administration and non-coaching operations of the Women’s Volleyball program. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating all team travel, budget preparation, monitoring academic progress and study hall performances, and overseeing student managers and scout team.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Promotes the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program; to include adhering to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Atlantic Coast Conference and the NCAA.
  • Directs in-house recruiting for the Volleyball program to include mailings, requests for prospect transcripts and high school 48-H forms, and travel arrangements for official campus visits.
  • Organizes team travel to away sites to include hotel, transportation, meals, room assignments, meeting rooms, player meal money distribution, etc.
  • Responsible for Volleyball practice and game statistical charts.
  • Manages scheduling and organization of practice times at home or away sites.
  • Manages practice times, and sites, arranges for bus transportation.
  • Maintains records during games of time-outs, players’ fouls, possession arrow, and time management in timeouts.
  • Manages meeting charts and statistical charts in locker room.
  • Responsible for coordinating players’ academics with assigned Student Services staff.
  • Assists in monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, to include both class and study hall performances.
  • Assists Head Coach on a daily basis as needed.
  • Serves as liaison to equipment room for women’s volleyball.
  • Serves as liaison to campus housing for regular term and summer school housing for student-athletes.
  • Responsible for player/coach pass list for home and away games.
  • Coordinates and oversees student managers.
  • Assists with post season banquet/reception.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • BA/BS with three to five years of experience as volleyball coach, player, or manager.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the game of Women’s Volleyball.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and ACC regulations and guidelines governing student-athletes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Working knowledge of video equipment.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and fiscal management in assigned area.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative environment.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings, and travel out of town.
  • Valid driver license with good driving record; must be insurable.

Accountabilities:

  • Assists in providing supervision, training, work direction, and problem solving assistance for student managers.
  • Enforces NCAA/ACC regulations.
  • Oversees assigned budget.
