Job Details
SCAD seeks a Director of Giving to annually renew and upgrade gifts, and to steward and secure new contributors. In this role, you will directly solicit individuals and corporations and maintain a dedicated and evolving portfolio of current donors and prospects in support of SCAD’s mission and priorities.
The Director of Giving works closely with the executive director, giving department colleagues and key academic program stakeholders to identify and maximize fundraising opportunities. You will also contribute to SCAD’s strategic goal of fortitude to obtain donations for programs based on the university’s highest priorities as well as assist the executive director with operational functions and ad hoc projects related to the giving department.
The ideal candidate takes a strategic approach to development and alumni relations and has several years of experience in creating and managing efficient, well-ordered, goal-oriented fundraising efforts, preferably in an institution of higher education. With excellent written and oral communication skills, they have a demonstrated history as an effective writer, presenter and speaker. They will also have a record of success in conceiving and implementing programs tailored to achieve the greatest return on the dollar. The ability to work collaboratively and autonomously, a strong attention to detail and a solutions-oriented commitment to
delivering excellent internal and external customer service is essential.
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred
•Five to seven years of experience including major gift solicitation experience and negotiation skills
•The proven ability to successfully work with and gain the respect and support of varied and changing constituencies, including chief executives, board members, faculty, staff members, potential donors, alumni and volunteers
•A passion for advancing SCAD’s mission
