Position Summary
Job Summary
The Assistant Football Coach reports to the Head Football Coach. The primary tasks are to assist the head coach in recruiting and serve as a position coach.
Specific Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit quality student-athletes for the football program
  • Develop and implement organized practices and game strategies for designated position(s)
  • Monitor and track academic progress of student-athletes on team
  • Adhere to all NCAA and conference rules and bylaws
  • Develop positive rapport with athletics staff, as well as SU community
  • Represent the university to various constituents in a professional manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    Evidence of positive attitude and the ability to get along well with others required. Excellent speaking and writing skills necessary, as well as the ability to be a well-organized self-starter. Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner. Ability to effectively use a PC, Windows platform, HUDL, Front Rush, telephone and equipment specific to the sport.

    Education
    Bachelor's Degree required.

    Physical Demand
    Lifting, pulling, pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Talking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience
    Previous football coaching experience preferred.
