Coordinator of Inclusive Student Programs

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Coordinator of Inclusive Student Programs is responsible for facilitating programing and executing events, being an active central resource, and supporting the curricular and co-curricular needs of students from diverse cultural backgrounds, both domestic and international.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

The Coordinator of Inclusive Student Programs is housed within the Office of Intercultural Learning and Engagement (OILE) and directly reports to the Executive Director for Inclusive Excellence and has a dotted line relationship to the Assistant Director for Inclusive Learning and Engagement

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design curriculum, train, and supervise student leadership groups within the Office of Intercultural Learning and Engagement such as the Intercultural Ambassadors, International Student Association, and Transition to American Cultural Living student leaders and volunteers who serve as an extension for the Office Intercultural Learning and Engagement (OILE) on campus.
  • Lead events such as Passport to Culture, Day of Courageous Conversations, Love Revolution, ISA monthly dinners, Konnection Nights, among other co-curricular, multicultural programs and events as designated by the Executive Director of OILE
  • Represent OILE during campus visit days and New Student Orientation.
  • Serve on the Council for Inclusive Excellence and other University committees as designated by the Executive Director of Inclusive Excellence, and other planning endeavors in order to promote diverse student enrollment and retention.
  • Stay up to date on current research and trends related to intercultural student services (i.e., attend conferences, maintain memberships, review books, articles, and journals, etc.)
  • Advocate for students from diverse cultural backgrounds on matters related to their academic success and social development.
  • Be available to represent the university and OILE at various conferences and events on and off campus, in a responsible manner.
  • Be available to speak/teach on and off campus and develop relationships with community leaders as a representative of the university and OILE
  • Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the university’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • Support the policies and lifestyle standards of the university as outlined in the student handbook and university catalog.
  • Fulfill all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of OILE

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (Students Only):

  • Serve as the Staff Advisor of the International Student Association and Koinonia.
  • Supervise the International Student Coordinator
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise the Intercultural Ambassadors
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise the Transition to America College Living (TACL) student leaders
  • Coordinate and execute curricular and co-curricular programming for the Multicultural Endowed Scholar and Luther Lee Scholar students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures, intersections and identities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple administrative tasks effectively and efficiently, and able to delegate responsibilities to others.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in the field of higher education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the field of international, multicultural and intercultural student education.
  • Well organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks at one time.
  • Personable, hospitable, and strong people skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; bilingual preferred.
  • Experienced working with diverse student groups.
  • Experienced working with collegians and/or in a university culture.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and data management skills.
  • Works well as a part of a team and values collaboration and consensus.
  • Maintains a strong work ethic and is able to set and accomplish personal and professional goals.
