The Social Work Department at SUNY Buffalo State invites applications for a 10-month, tenure track, assistant professor position beginning in August 2020. The department seeks candidates committed to teaching excellence who will contribute to the college’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment. Applicants are expected to have a scholarly record appropriate for their substantive area, and for the rank at which they are applying. Applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds are encouraged.
The responsibilities of a social work assistant professor include, but are not limited to: having a 3-3 teaching load of undergraduate social work courses per year, onsite and/or online; providing strong student advisement; participating actively in department committee meetings, helping to develop curricula consistent with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)- reaccreditation standards; participating in college and community service; and conducting and publishing scholarly research.
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate by time of hire in social work/social welfare, or related field (sociology, psychology, political science, public health, anthropology, education); MSW from a (CSWE)-accredited program, a minimum of two-years post-MSW full-time direct client, non-administrative, practice experience; teaching experience in a college setting, and demonstrated (or articulated) research plan.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in social work/social welfare, demonstrated BSW-level teaching experience, ability in SW course development and instruction, including online format; documented peer-reviewed publications; MSW state licensure; knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards.
