The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a full time surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level commensurate with qualifications in the section of Trauma-Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care with board certification in General Surgery and Added Qualifications in Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery or equivalent certification to join an established and growing program. The section of Trauma-Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care is within the Division of GI, Trauma and Endocrine Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado-School of Medicine in Aurora, CO.

The ideal candidate would be comfortable with all aspects of general surgery including trauma and acute care surgery and surgical critical care. Preference will be given to applicants that have completed two years of a formal trauma and critical care surgical fellowship and demonstrated experience in research, surgical education, and patient care. This position is responsible for staffing and call coverage for the trauma-acute care surgery service and the surgery-trauma intensive care unit service, participation in medical student, resident, and fellow education, and scholarly activity commensurate with qualifications. Preference will be given to applicants with prior research training and publication and grant funding productivity. Responsibilities include compliance with and promotion of high quality service in order to meet or exceed standards for appropriate accreditation and verification of these programs by regulatory, accreditation, or verification agencies.

The position is located at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, with privileges at University of Colorado Hospital, an American College of Surgeons verified and State of Colorado designated Level I trauma center with > 100,000 ED patient visits per year.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Applicants must have a current medical degree with board certification in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery with Added Qualification in Surgical Critical Care. Completion of a formal fellowship program in trauma and critical care is strongly preferred
