Nature of Work:

The Advanced Practice Provider will serve withthe assigned inpatient attending for the care of patients with kidney diseaseand hypertension who are hospitalized and either on the renal (orange team)service or being followed on a consultative basis. 

Examples of WorkPerformed:

•Rounding on inpatients and implementing andadvancing these inpatients' care throughout the day in coordination with theinpatient nephrology attending and other nephrology team members (fellow,dialysis and clinic nurse, renal dietician, renal social worker).
•This includes caring for critically ill patients followed by the nephrologyservice in the intensive care units and receiving renal replacement therapysuch as CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy).
•If the inpatient service experiences less activity, opportunities will beavailable to (after receiving appropriate training) rounding in the chronicoutpatient dialysis unit or in general nephrology outpatient or kidneytransplant clinics.
•No overnight or weekend on-call responsibilities are anticipated, and lessthan 1.0 FTE commitments will be considered.

Minimum Qualifications:

•Current Colorado State PhysicianAssistant/Nurse Practitioner License.
•Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.

•Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification required.

•Pediatric Acute Care certification required.

PreferredQualifications:

•Ability to work effectively in amulti-disciplinary, academic health care setting.
•Interest in caring for a unique pediatric patient population with chronicillness.
•Experience in pediatrics, preferably pediatric nephrology or even pediatricdialysis.

Competencies:

•Examples include, but are not limited to,performing comprehensive examinations, ordering medications, communicatingeffectively with consulting services and the ability to educate others.

Conditions ofEmployment:

•Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug testthrough Children's Hospital Colorado.
•Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offenderbackground check.
