Job Summary:

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for this faculty rank, 12 month non tenure track position. The Librarian Serials & Electronic Resources/Reference/Instructor manages the electronic and print serials collections and databases, including acquisitions, renewal, payment and activation. This position works collaboratively in a team-based environment and serves as a department academic liaison providing collection development support and information literacy instruction. Manages the selection, purchasing, licensing, access and maintenance of print and electronic resources in all formats; and works with the Library’s technical and public services staff in implementing, troubleshooting, and using the integrated Library System (ALMA). Serves at the Library’s Reference Desk; work includes some evening and weekend shifts in rotation with other Librarians. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; competitive benefits program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA accredited institution. Experience in an academic library using an integrated library system; experience with cataloging principles and metadata schemes, especially as they relate to serials. Excellent written and oral communication/ presentation skills. Familiarity with license agreements and experience with Mac cataloging formats. RDA. ALMA, and EZ-Proxy. Supervisory experience with commitment to serve. Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to new and changing technology. Background and/or credit check may be required.
