The Department of Clinical Sciences at the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine is dedicated to excellence in educating and training veterinarians and comparative biomedical scientists, furthering health care and wellness through discovery and clinical research, providing outstanding and compassionate medical care to a diverse range of animal patients, effectively engaging animal-owning public, government and industry partners, and providing leadership in integrating biomedical sciences to advance One Health.
North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is a dynamic community whose members are dedicated to preparing veterinarians and veterinarian scientists while advancing animal and human health from the cellular level through entire ecosystems. With over seventeen clinical services staffed by board certified specialists, many of whom are not only nationally but also internationally renowned, the Veterinary Hospital (VH) is on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine. Patients benefit from the combined expertise of multiple specialists utilizing a team approach to patient health care. Each year, over 30,000 patients are treated in the VH. The VH provides compassionate care, state of the art specialty health care, expert clinical instruction for 4th year veterinary students from the CVM, and ongoing investigation of innovative techniques and procedures to further advance the field of veterinary medicine.Essential Job Duties
This position requires in-depth knowledge and experience in the delivery of small animal primary care veterinary services, the ability to teach veterinary students in the delivery of primary care and wellness management, and the ability to oversee daily operations of the small animal general practice service. The successful candidate will provide high quality first opinion medicine, general surgery, and general dentistry. Care provided is expected to be delivered in a manner consistent with the service’s emphasis on positive patient experience and low-stress animal handling methodology.
The candidate will be integral in the development of primary care training of small animal general practitioners for the college, and teaching responsibilities will predominantly focus on the training and assessment of fourth year veterinary students in the clinical setting. Some didactic and laboratory teaching in topics related to general practice is expected. Additional responsibilities will include oversight and management of daily activities of the small animal general practice service, such as management of the faculty’s clinical schedule, oversight of inventory, and direction of service operations.Other Work/ResponsibilitiesMinimum Education/Experience

Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.

Candidates with experience and strong interest in dentistry, general surgery, and client communication are encouraged to apply.
Experience with low-stress, fear-free methodology desired. ABVP certification in Small Animal Practice or interest in completing certification process preferred.Required License or Certification
