Job Description

POSITION TITLE:TECHNICIAN, Simulation
STATUS:Full time (9-month position)
DEPARTMENT:Nursing
DIVISION:Nursing, Health, and Public Services
CLASSIFICATION:Non-exempt

REPORTS TO:Department Chair
PLACEMENT: Grade 7
MINIMUM PAY RATE:$32,754 for 9 months

POSITION SUMMARY
The Simulation Technician is primarily responsible for integrating, maintaining and operating the computer and audio/video (A/V) technology including the simulation mannequins and surrounding lab equipment. The Simulation Technician is responsible for simulation room set-up and take down, application of moulage, operation of mannequins during simulation, and recording/playback of simulations. The position works closely with the Simulation Coordinator and the Nursing Lab staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Operate simulation mannequins during simulation sessions.
2.Program mannequins to model physiological responses to instructor specifications.
3.Support/assist in role-playing applications, props placement, and moulage setup before and after simulations to create a virtual healthcare setting.
4.Capture, store and run reports from simulation recordings.
5.Perform basic preventive maintenance and upgrades of simulation programs and equipment.
6.Collaborate with vendors for installation and troubleshooting of various simulation technologies.
7.Maintain and troubleshoot simulation equipment, audio/visual equipment, and simulation lab technologies.
8.Perform inventory, orders, and stock consumable supplies. Keep storeroom and simulation space organized and orderly.
9.Collaborate in the repair of simulation equipment.
10.Attend meetings or continuing education to maintain currency with simulation technology and use.
11.Provide recommendations for purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials related to simulation.
12.Maintain current knowledge of simulation equipment and software.
13.Assist with training staff and faculty in the use of simulation equipment.
14.Collaborate and serve as a resource for faculty in the use of simulation.
15.Assist with data entry for various recordkeeping.
16.Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Associate’s degree in information technology and/or health-related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
2.Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
3.Excellent organizational skills and the ability to think logically and follow directions.
4.Strong interpersonal skills; desire and ability to work in higher education.
5.The ability to excel both independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Knowledge of computer operations and networking.
2.Knowledge of the basics of high fidelity mannequin functions.
3.Knowledge of the features and capabilities of basic multimedia equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Lifting of up to 50lbs.
