Job FieldThe Department of Management, University of Toronto Scarborough, invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure stream appointment in Sports Management. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor and will commence July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.  The successful candidate also will be eligible to hold the Tenniel Chu Chair in Sports Management for a term of up to five years with the potential for further extension.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Management or a discipline closely related to Sports Management, with a demonstrated, exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will have a strong portfolio of research in Sports Management that intersects with, and complements, the existing functional areas of research in the Department.

The Department of Management has a strong core of research faculty engaged in world-class research in all areas of Management including Operations Management and Analytics, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Organizational Behaviour, Accounting, and Strategy. We offer unique and exceptionally high quality programs in every area of Management that are in high demand and attract the very best students to our Department.

The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of established and sustained scholarly excellence through the submitted research statement, ongoing innovative and independent research of international repute, an outstanding record of publications in leading peer-reviewed journals in the field, a highly successful track record of research funding, presentations at significant conferences, distinguished awards and accolades, and other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, as well as strong endorsements from referees of high standing. A record of collaboration with sports industry partners will be an asset as this is an expectation of the position.

Candidates are expected to provide demonstrable evidence of teaching excellence, including accomplishments in program and curriculum development, pedagogical innovations, undergraduate and graduate student mentoring and supervision, and effective teaching through a teaching dossier (including a teaching statement, sample course outlines and related materials, and teaching evaluations). Applicants are also expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.

The successful candidate will be a member of the tri-campus Graduate Department of Management at the University of Toronto, will be cross-appointed to the Rotman School of Management and will be expected to participate in the Graduate Department of Management’s graduate programs.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
