The Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV) at the Institute of Behavioral Sciences at CU-Boulder invites applicants for a Professional Research Assistant (PRA)-Community Site Representative for the Youth Violence Prevention Center- Denver (YVPC-D) Project. The YVPC-D project is grant funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2016-2021). This project focuses on reducing violence among 10-24 year olds in 2 Denver communities using a Communities That Care® (CTC) approach. We partner with Denver’s Montbello and Park Hill communities to implement and evaluate a community-level prevention system that delivers community-and policy-level youth violence prevention strategies matched to the identified local need.
The project will hire a half-time (50%) Community Site Representative to support the Park Hill community’s implementation of CTC. The Community Site Representative will be responsible for interfacing directly with community members and support the day-to-day operations of all CTC activities at the : Park Hill site. These activities will include, but not be limited to community mobilization and development of a comprehensive strategic prevention plan that includes the selection and implementation of community-level prevention strategies to reduce youth violence. S/he will support communication and evaluation activities between the community and the CU-Boulder research team. The position will be based in Park Hill and will report to the Project Director. The Site Representatives will coordinate activities with the community, CU-Boulder, Key Leaders, Community Board members and other stakeholders, and preferably will be hired from the community.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Work with the CU Project Director and Training Director to enhance the community prevention board in Park Hill and facilitate recruitment of community prevention board members that includes appropriate community agencies, entities and individuals.
• Arrange CTC training workshops for community prevention board members in concert with the CU Project Director.
• In cooperation with community board members, members of the larger community and CU research team, support the implementation of a comprehensive community violence prevention plan that includes community-level prevention strategies.
• Together with the CU Project Director and Implementation Manager, establish systems for the community prevention boards to monitor the implementation of selected interventions.
• Coordinate the implementation of the preventive interventions selected by the community board.
• Support the evaluation activities at the community level as needed by the CU research team.
• Disseminate CTC information to key leaders, schools and other youth service providers and the public.
• Represent CTC to the larger community,serving as the primary community contact for CTC activities.
• Make presentations to appropriate community groups, members, and investment members.
• Together with the CU Training Director, train community board members for community outreach.

What You Should KnowHOURS: 50% FTE - Twenty hours per week. Some evenings and weekends required.
Local travel required.Job site is in Park Hill, with 2-3 meetings per month at CU Boulder.
The out-going Community Site Representative was also employed at an additional twenty hours per week by Park Hill Collective Impact, to effectively make the position full-time. • Bachelor’s degree with at least three years’ project or community-focused work or equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and ability to work with database programs such as Access.
• Experience in project management and/or strategic planning such as program development, developing and evaluating outcomes, conducting data analysis and evaluation, developing operations and marketing plans and developing timelines.

• Demonstrated bilingual ability.

What We Would Like You To Have

• Familiarity with local community and community outreach and organizing; experience with prevention efforts in this community.
• Understanding/working knowledge of youth-serving systems and agencies.
• Previous work experience with youth boards and representatives.
• Familiarity with different social media accounts.
