Job Description:

Title Adjunct Instructor, Department of Psychophysiology

Saybrook University is seeking a doctoral level person with extensive experience in sport physiology to join its Department of Psychophysiology in the College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences as an adjunct instructor.

Under the direction of the Chair, Department of Psychophysiology, the adjunct instructor is responsible for teaching courses for the department.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:                                 

  • Teaching courses concentrating on sport and performing arts physiology within the psychophysiology department which require a knowledge of sport physiology under general supervision of the Chair, Department of Psychophysiology.
  • Develop syllabi and Canvas based course shells for the above courses.
  • Work with students taking the above courses to insure that they understand how to integrate the basic principles of sport physiology into optimizing performance of people participating at all levels of sport and performing arts.
  • Monitoring and participating in weekly streaming discussions during which students demonstrate their understanding of the course material.
  • Grading all student submissions and keeping track of grades as specified within the course syllabi according to Saybrook Universities criteria.
  • Assisting in the development of course materials including locating appropriate supporting literature and organizing course materials.
  • Approximate time requirement is approximately 200 hours per course.

Position Requirements:

  • Extensive experience optimizing performance of people at all levels of participation in sports and the performing arts.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of sport physiology.
  • Doctoral level degree in sport physiology or a related field.

Checking the quality of the prerecorded lectures. Helping Eric, Cynthia, and I (me) conduct a departmental “self-study” to insure that our students are learning and meeting the stated goals of our program. Compiling then maintaining data bases for specific areas of psychophysiology which are difficult to keep up with. This includes putting the article’s abstracts with the citations. Participating in research projects being performed by psychophys faculty. Being TAs for various courses and labs.
