The Associate Dean manages Rensselaer’s fraternity & sorority system; leads & collaborates with students, councils, chapters, administrators, faculty, alumni/ae, headquarters & partners to enhance Greek life in alignment with Rensselaer’s CLASS model.

Minimum Qualifications

•Master’s Degree in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling or related area.
•5 years of relevant experience in higher education administration, with 3 years of experience directly advising fraternities and sororities.
•Experience in program planning, budget development, assessment, and in the supervision of staff
•Ability to travel to on-campus and off-campus locations within the Capital District as a requirement of on-call duties

Preferred QualificationsMinimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Knowledge and understanding of Greek systems, national and regional trends, policies, procedures, governance, organizational development and recruitment processes
•Demonstrated experience advising and counseling students
•Demonstrated experience responding appropriately to student concerns and manage student issues
•Proven experience exercising good judgment and the ability to remain unbiased and impartial in dealing with fraternity and sorority issues
•Demonstrated success working with Greek chapter and council leaders, alumni/ae, parents, chapter advisors, community members, and fraternity and sorority headquarters
•Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
•Excellent communication skills
•Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
•Ability to analyze and interpret data
•Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
•Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
•Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
•Ability to work independently or as part of a team
•Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing environment
•Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills

Normal office environments. Will travel between living facilities on a regular basis. The work is fast paced and demanding, often with irregular hours (nights and weekends). Serves irregular hours and on-call to meet residential student needs requiring the ability to travel to on-campus and off-campus locations within the Capital District.

Additional Information

The Associate Dean is responsible for the successful management of the Rensselaer fraternity and sorority system and ensures Clustered Learning, Advocacy and Support for Students (CLASS) is advanced through Greek life. The Associate Dean provides leadership to, and works collaboratively with students, Greek councils, chapter advisors, administrators, faculty, alumni/ae, national/international headquarters and community partners to enhance Greek life at Rensselaer.
