Position: Development Research Specialist Location: Wheaton, IL
Job Id: 405 # of Openings: 1 Development Research SpecialistOffice of Development(Position is part-time: 20 hours/week, 12 months/year; schedule can be arranged) Job SummaryReporting to the Associate Director of Prospect Research and Management, the Development Research Specialist is responsible for providing prospect research support. The Development Research Specialist works on the research team to provide biographies, data management, and other research needs for the Development office. Duties
  1. Provide ongoing maintenance to the prospect management system to ensure codes are up-to-date and perform regular audits of the data to ensure accuracy and coordination of information for the Development Department. (50%)
  2. Provide support by fulfilling research requests from Regional Directors (RDs) of Development, including items such as biographical research, contact information, basic capacity analysis, and trip planning assistance. (25%)
  3. In collaboration with other staff, create biographies for the President and Senior Leadership’s donor engagement. (25%)
  4. Maintain an understanding of industry best practices in Prospect Development and contribute to a culture of philanthropy and compliance with industry standards.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Prior prospect research experience preferred.
  • One to two years’ experience in a related field/position preferred and/or three years’ experience in professional office setting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and the professional standards set forth for the field by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize complex tasks with multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, synthesize, and clearly report on a high volume of information.
  • Capacity to work across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong research, writing, and computer skills.
  • Interest in growing in the field of development.
