The Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC), established in 1995,integrates research, policy, and programs to advance health and well-being. Thecenter conducts, analyzes and disseminates qualitative and quantitativefindings to connect decision makers with the objective research and guidanceneeded to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. Today thecenter is at work in more than 220 communities in all 50 states, helping ournation to improve health status. In 2017, the GHPC added a global portfolio,including work in Nigeria, Sudan, and Ireland.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Research Associate II (RA II) is a contributing member of multipleresearch, technical assistance, policy development, and programmatic teams dependingon scope of work.  The center’s currentscope of work includes health care access, health insurance, child health andchild policy, school health, long-term care, cancer, community health systemdevelopment, public health systems, and Medicaid.  The position primarily contributes to the meeting design and facilitation, research and evaluation, technical assistance, policy development, professional education, and programmatic work of the Medicaid Policy and Businessteam. The RAII will coordinate specialprojects as assigned by senior staff,prepare literature reviews, conduct researchand assist in developing research and policy papers.

ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Contributes to the research team through qualitative andquantitative data analysis, research and evaluation support.
  • Contributes to the development of creative solutions tocomplex health policy issues.  
  • Conducts literature reviews, analyzes results, andcontributes to the analytic plan.
  • Assists seniorstaff in identifying and responding to new researchand funding opportunities.
  • Drafts reports, abstracts, briefing papers,presentations, and other research-related communications.  
  • Servesas a project coordinator and supports the management of grants and contracts.
  • Provides a range of technical assistance and facilitatesgroup meetings.
  • Reports on GHPC projects to build key stakeholderawareness through accepted communications channels.
  • Builds relationships with external stakeholdersincluding legislators, community leaders, and academicians.
  • Attends meetings and represents the GHPC at conferencesand national meetings.
  • Serves as a mentor to Research Associates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
