The University of Vermont (UVM), one of the oldest universities in America, seeks an exceptional admissions and diversity leader to serve as the Associate Director of Admissions for Diversity and Recruitment.


The only comprehensive university in the state and Vermont’s land-grant institution, UVM enrolls 12,164 degree-seeking students including 10,612 undergraduates and 1,552 graduate students, and combines faculty-student relationships typically found in a liberal arts college with the scholarship and resources of a major research institution. It is home to seven undergraduate schools and colleges including an honors college, as well as a graduate college, medical school and divisions of extension and continuing education. The university attracts a distinguished faculty and has steadily built its research enterprise, growing sponsored research from $65 million in 1999 to over $138 million in 2016. The Associate Director of Admissions for Diversity and Recruitment will provide leadership and strategic direction for undergraduate recruitment initiatives, within the framework of the University’s enrollment targets and consistent with the mission and annual objectives of the Admissions office. Oversee domestic recruitment and initiatives related to diversity recruitment and partnership development, and refugee, and Abenaki outreach. Provide leadership to oversight of programs, recruiting efforts, marketing and communications related to recruiting a diverse first year and transfer class. Hire, train and manage staff responsible for diversity and domestic recruitment efforts. Develop training for admissions staff to strengthen diversity competencies. Manage a recruitment territory. Review applications and make admissions decisions. Work with Colleges/Schools to enhance their recruitment and retention efforts for diverse populations.


Master’s degree in a related field and three to five years’ related experience required. Experience in diversity recruitment, domestic recruitment or retention required. Demonstrated success in supervisory experience required. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution.
