William & Mary seeks a dynamic, creative, experienced staff member to join the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Candidates should have a strong interest in contributing to office-wide efforts to recruit the most academically and personally distinguished students who will contribute to the diversity of the university’s undergraduate population. Candidates should have a dedicated interest in equity and access in education, particularly in highly selective environments.
The successful incumbent will participate in all aspects of the college admission cycle. Additionally, this individual serves as the staff lead for the international student application-review process and as the primary contact for international applicants.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Liaison with Reves Center for International Studies.
• Develop email communications for international students.
• Monitor and update international admission webpage.
• Oversee InitialView and internal Skype interview processes for international students, and supervise international student admission volunteers.
• Conduct information sessions and represent the office through high school visitations and participation at college day and evening programs.
• Read and evaluate applications for admission including primary responsibility for international applications.
• May include supervising student volunteers.
• Participation in the office’s multicultural recruitment efforts.
• Participation on the office’s marketing and communications team.
• Coordinate and/or support on-campus recruitment programs
• Participation in other admission and recruitment endeavors.
Additional Responsibilities (Senior Assistant Dean):
• Admission and recruitment of students to the Joint Degree Programme with the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
• May include supervising student employees and part-time staff, as well as student volunteers.
Assistant Dean Level:
• A Bachelor’s degree (to be conferred by start date)
• Demonstrates strong written, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate the value of attending a highly selective, liberal arts institution to varied constituencies.
• Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated excellent organizational and project management skills.
Senior Assistant Level:
• A bachelor’s degree
• Several years of college admission or related experience.
• Demonstrates strong written, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate the value of attending a highly selective, liberal arts institution to varied constituencies.
• Project-management skills, ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a diverse staff
Assistant Dean Level:
• An advanced degree or combination of advanced coursework and experience.
• Strong experience in the international student experience and international admission.
• Personal or professional experience in a liberal arts and sciences university setting.
• Previous experience working with student volunteers, interns and/or student organizations.
• Fluency in a foreign language.
Senior Assistant Dean Level:
• An advanced degree or professional level experience.
• Prior experience reviewing applications from international students, familiarity with international educational systems, and/or experience working with international students.
• Experience in a liberal arts and sciences university setting.
• Fluency in a foreign language.
• Previous experience supervising student volunteers, interns and/or part-time employees.
• Membership and active involvement in relevant professional organizations.

Conditions of Employment:• Must be able to maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Some overnight travel as well as periodic evening and weekend work is required.
• This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, to include occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
