Essential Functions:
- Identifies and recruits target samples for research studies by working with community partners in Winston-Salem and faculty and staff at Wake Forest University.
- Coordinates studies (i.e. prepares study applications, determines eligibility of study participants, schedules research activities, and distributes payments).
- Facilitates/instructs participants in character development curricula (i.e. leading discussions, presenting material, engaging participants).
- Collects and manages participant data (i.e. prepares survey materials, distributes and collects surveys, manages database, conducts research interviews and focus groups).
- Evaluates audio recordings of intervention sessions and rates sessions for quality
- Maintains accurate, organized, and complete records of research.
- Tracks research expenditures (i.e. receipts, reimbursements, and monthly account review); monitors and manages the budget.
- Compiles and enters data and assists in the completion of research reports.
- Assists with preparation of manuscripts for publication.
- Assists in providing training, direction, scheduling, and problem-solving support for student assistants.
- Works cooperatively with other project members, including supervising student assistants.
- Organizes international conferences and meetings of the research network, including coordinating travel and reimbursement and making logistical arrangements.
- Works under general and specific supervision; reports to Project Co-Leaders and to Psychology/Program for Character and Leadership Research Investigators.
- Monitors compliance with relevant John Templeton Foundation, US, WFU, and APA regulations.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related discipline.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Careful attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to coordinate and organize all components of a research study.
- Ability to research and resolve problems associated with the completion of a study.
- Knowledge of research design.
- Interest in character development and related interventions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to anticipate mistakes and plan to reduce them.
- Proficiency in general computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, email, and internet-based research).
- Knowledge of spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, SPSS).
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Possession of a masters degree in counseling, social work, or other clinical field and license to provide independent clinical/counseling services in North Carolina, which will offer opportunities to take on additional responsibilities in supporting participants. (Note that we will also be excited to hear from applicants who do not have a clinical background.)
- Experience working with diverse community populations.
- Experience conducting empirical research studies, designing and assessing interventions, or conducting program evaluation.
- Knowledge of or familiarity with character or personality development.
- Proficiency in quantitative or qualitative analysis and/or program evaluation.
Accountabilities:
