The Department of English at the University of Miami is accepting applications for a full-time lecturer positions in its Composition Program for the academic year 2019-20.  The normal teaching assignment is four courses per semester and may include consulting at the University‚Äôs Writing Center. Classes are offered in such areas as basic writing, business writing or science and technical writing in addition to regular freshman composition courses.

The appointment is for one year and may be renewable, subject to performance, writing program needs, and available funding. Candidates must have college-level teaching experience, and an M.A. or M.F.A. in English or a relevant field.  A PhD in Rhetoric & Composition and/or Writing Studies is preferred.  We are especially interested in candidates with educational and professional backgrounds that would enable them to make connections with disciplines other than English studies. Additionally, applicants should also provide a short (2 pages maximum) description of their approach to teaching a required, first-year composition course, along with documents that illustrate their work with composition students.
