Employees perform a variety of duties in the care and cleaning of offices, classrooms, corridors and restrooms. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving furniture, operating heavy cleaning equipment and trash removal. Work is guided by a daily schedule of assignments. Work is reviewed through inspections and frequent consultation with supervisory personnel. Must have the ability to work independently and remain productive.

Accountable for the care and cleanliness of offices, classrooms, and multi-purpose facilities. Sweeps, mops, and vacuums floor surfaces. Cleans windows, walls, woodwork, and light fixtures. Maintains bathrooms in a sanitary state. Replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary. Empties trash and recycling receptacles as needed, moves furniture upon assignment, and performs related duties as required.
Understands and meets the specific cleaning needs of each building. Additional capabilities to include excellent customer service skills to listen and respond to customer’s needs and the ability to maintain good employee relationships with supervisors and co-workers. Provides backup support for special projects and other activities, as needed, with specific instructions given as required for execution of more complex tasks.

N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Physical strength to work at medium manual labor for considerable periods of time

Preferred education, professional skills and experience

Two years of experience in commercial cleaning

NC Drivers License preferred
