Job Details
Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Borrowing Services Manager organizes and supervises all circulation services. She/he/they hire, schedule, and train student staff and oversee all front desk activities. She/he/they manage interlibrary loan services and all facets of course reserves. This is a full-time (37.5 hour per week) position, with weekend and evening shifts. This is a non-exempt staff position.
The Borrowing Services Manager serves as liaison to Monterey Bay Area Cooperative Library System (MOBAC) committees as assigned. As part of the Public Services team, she/he/they will contribute her/his/their individual skills and expertise as needed in order to help the team achieve its objectives.
Responsibilities Essential Functions· Manages circulation services and front desk activities with an emphasis on providing excellent service to library patrons
· Oversees all circulation notices and communications
· Manages all aspects of graduate assistant staffing including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision
· Provides technology support to library patrons
· Oversees and documents circulation services procedures
· Assists the Library Director and Public Services team in the formulation of circulation services policy
· Oversees print and online course reserves including communication and outreach to faculty
· Manages interlibrary loan services
· Serves as liaison to the MOBAC ILL Committee
· Provides leadership, training, support, and feedback to library staff involved in circulation, reserve, and interlibrary loan services
· Applies and interprets copyright law and determines copyright guidelines use Proactively supports faculty in their course design as it relates to copyright law
· Services as primary liaison to Middlebury College Circulation Services, Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan teams
· Develops and maintains statistical reports for circulation, reserves, and interlibrary loan
· Oversees library cash deposits, fines and billing
· Purchases office and printer supplies
· Serves as primary contact for printer/copier, scanner, and security gate servicing
· Oversees library displays
· Oversees orderly arrangement of all collections
· Oversees library operations during evening and weekend shifts when no other staff members are present
· Complies with copyright law as it applies to academic libraries
· Actively participates in team meetings and collaborative projects
· Serves as library representative on designated campus committees and working groups
· Maintains a close working relationship with all library staff
· Maintains confidentiality of library patron records
· Complies with campus safety guidelines
· In collaboration with other staff members, ensures that public and staff areas are safe, clean, and inviting
· Communicates with appropriate campus staff regarding facilities, technology, and safety issues
· Ensures appropriate and effective use of shared departmental folders, email accounts, calendars, social media, and websites
· Other responsibilities as required to assist the library in accomplishing its mission
•Relevant BA or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities•Strong commitment to providing excellent service to patrons
•Good organizational skills
•Competency in basic maintenance of library machinery
•Ability to train and supervise work-study student assistants
•Adaptability to new and specialized technology
•Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical personnel in a results and customer service-oriented manner essential
•Knowledge of library policies and procedures
•Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
•Ability to work independently after training
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
At least 3 years experience working in a library, preferably academic.
• Experience with Office, Adobe and Google tools
• Experience with library systems, especially Innovative Sierra platform (preferred)
• Experience with ILLiad
• Experience with library equipment including computers, printers, scanners
• Supervisory experience

Job requires ability to sit, stand, walk, bend/stoop, squat, push/pull. Also requires the ability to lift and carry weight up to 25 pounds occasionally.
