The Athletics Marketing & Events Fellow will be charged with working independently as well as collaboratively on projects, events, and initiatives throughout the department.
The individual in this position will be responsible for carrying high level projects from initiation to completion; organizing people, information, and materials around identified outcomes; and communicating with senior staff members, coaches, student-athletes, and other constituents in a professional, personable, and highly respectful manner.
This is a 10 month, 40 hour per week position, which requires some night and weekend hours.Accountabilities
The Athletics Administration Fellow will be responsible for assisting the Associate Athletics Director Event Management & Facilities and Associate Athletics Director for Marketing & Promotions with assigned tasks and projects associated with Marketing & Promotions, Event Management, and Facilities Operations.
Examples of associated tasks include:
•Assisting with planning, management, logistics, and execution of marketing & promotion events
•Connecting with local community, youth groups and schools for game promotions and event participation
•Serving as event manager and game day liaison for assigned sports, assist with football and ice hockey
•Recruiting, hiring, training and managing student workers
Marketing & Promotions
•Manage pre-game and in-game promotions for assigned sports
•Create graphics and brainstorm social media engagement opportunities
•Work with local sponsors on package renewals and fulfillment
•Build relationships and collaborate with campus partners
•Conduct industry research on best practices and innovative fan engagement and marketing trends
•Assist with budget analysis and management for various projects
•Assist with ticketing/promotions newsletter
•Responsible for set-up and break down of home games, with assistance from Buildings & Grounds unit
•Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and managing student workers
•Assist with athletics facilities rentals
•Assist with external television and/or live streaming companies, for Colgate home events
•Responsible for placing and tracking facilities work orders
•Assist in the scheduling of athletic facilities for practices, games, and events
•Conduct industry research on best practices, forecasting, and guest services enhancements
•Assist in creating, updating, and/or maintaining policies, plans, and other critical materials related to facilities and event management
•Assist with conference and NCAA tournament bid processes and financial reporting
Accountable for maintaining personal compliance with all relevant governing bodies to include:
• specific conference
• athletic department
• university policies
Additionally, the Marketing & Events Fellow will plan and execute special events as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing & Promotions or Associate Athletics Director Event Management & Facilities.

Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize all university productivity applications (e.g. MS Office, Concur, EMS, CMS, and Google) to include: collecting, updating, formatting and organizing moderately complex data such as sorts, filters, charts, pivot tables, all basic to intermediate level formulae, table of content formatting, mail merges, track changes and other similar features. Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of two years of work experience in Intercollegiate Athletics.
