The Department of Architecture in the College of Architectureand Planning at the University of Colorado Denver will establish and maintain apool of Lecturers from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure-trackpositions will be made. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and willbe made semester-by-semester with the possibility of renewal. This temporaryLecturer pool is anticipated to remain continuously active through December 31,2019—at that point, all applications will be cleared from the pool. You arewelcome to reapply to the pool after that date.

Lecturers may be selected from this pool to teachsix-credit-hour design studios in the Department of Architecture’sundergraduate and/or graduate programs. If an applicant has an area ofexpertise other than or in addition to design studio and would like to beconsidered to teach a three-credit-hour course, the applicant should highlightthis interest in a cover letter.


Skill Requirements

Lecturers that are hired toteach design studios are expected to have expertise and experience inarchitectural design. This includes knowledge of different design paradigms,design skills and approaches to project design. A successful applicant must beable to develop, and manage student projects through constructive criticism,the use of technologies ranging from technical drafting to advanced digitaldesign tools and visualization software. If applying to a non-studio course theapplicant must possess and be able to demonstrate expertise in the area offocus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a relatedfield is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to applicants with aprofessional degree in architecture or a terminal degree in a related field.
  • Additional preference will be given to applicantswith prior teaching experience, and/or professional registration, and/or arecord of professional practice in architecture.

Salary and Benefits

Compensation for Lecturers is a set dollaramount, determined at the beginning of each academic year, based on the numberof credit hours per course.         

  

This part-time appointment is not eligible for grouphealth, life insurance, or retirement benefits.
