Your opportunity:

Works under the direction of the Principal Investigator and is responsible for providing research assistant support to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the Principal Investigator's research laboratory.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Informing Principal Investigator of concerns or setbacks
  • Responding to enquiries from Principal Investigator, faculty, and students
  • Applying established standards when preparing routine samples for research projects and/or experiments
  • Coordinating meetings for the team and graduate students
  • Applying established standards when preparing routine samples for lab testing
  • Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries for the Principal Investigator
  • Providing orientation to others on work procedures and practices
  • Applying established standards when cleaning lab, rooms, and equipment


CampusEssential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years experience working in a Chemistry Research Laboratory in a Post-Secondary Environment or similar setting.
  • Strong demonstrated experience in chemistry
  • Experience preparing routine samples for research projects and/or experiments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting laboratory equipment and resolving issues
  • Experience preparing statistical reports and summaries
  • Experience updating and maintaining database records
  • Demonstrated experience preparing laboratory experiments
  • Experience providing day-to-day direction to graduate students and Post-Docs in a laboratory environment

Assets (Nonessential):
  • Strengths in analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry an asset
