GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Director of Manufacturing Technical Services is responsible to direct studies to support the implementation of cost effective production procedures that will improve product quality and yield, optimize manufacturing processes, and ensure compliance to cGMP and other regulatory requirements.  Oversee new product scale up, process optimization, technology transfer, and process validation activities.   Assist manufacturing operations in identifying problems and solutions with equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for directing the development, planning and implementation of manufacturing methods, processes, validations and operation for new or existing products and technologies.
  • Coordinate Technical Transfer of monoclonal antibody Process Development information to Manufacturing Departments and external collaborators.
  • Delegates project management responsibilities to MTS staff; reviews project timelines and metrics, reports on deviations.
  • Supervises engineering activities such as equipment selection, qualification, installation and validation.  
  • Reviews data relating to validation of in-process production steps and makes appropriate recommendations.  Writes and reviews final reports.
  • Interacts with all departments to expedite implementation of change controls and corrective actions.
  • Ability to perform duties in cross-functional teams to support process development, validation and manufacturing projects and facilities programs/expansion
  • Hires, manages and trains staff.  Plans and assigns duties to meet departmental and organizational objectives. Provides guidance and direction to staff; establishing expectations, defining roles, supporting career development and managing performance.
  • Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining solutions.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD and demonstrated senior leadership experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years’ relevant experience or equivalent
  • Demonstration of initiative and leadership through past experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage others
  • Clear, concise, written and verbal communication and presentation skills 
  • Ability to maintain extensive working knowledge and proficiency in applicable cGMP regulations and other applicable regulations
  • Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, productive collaboration with others, and independent thought 
  • Strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to prioritize projects, and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision are required.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
