Systems and Data Analyst - FAS Institutional Research

Position Summary

Arts and Science is seeking a talented Systems and Data Analyst to join the Institutional Research team. This individual will develop, manage, and update documentation of the Arts and Science Information System, including logical models of the data mart, staging area, and source systems. Where systemic solutions do not exist, assist the Director in conducting ad hoc research and analysis projects to support school level decision-making and policy changes in areas including faculty recruitment and management, enrollment analysis and projections, resource utilization, and sponsored research. Produce an annual factbook data Profile and a bi-annual faculty equity study that present statistical analyses, data analytics reports, and comparisons with peer institutions.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's Degree in a field with strong quantitative or organizational analysis (Statistics, Economics, Sociology, Business, I/O Psychology et al.), or in higher education. Doctoral Degree.Required Experience:3+ years experience with development of client/server systems or reporting and design of business applications that draw from multiple relevant data sources (financial systems, survey instruments, academic records, etc.) or an equivalent combination. Must include experience with development of applications on a relational database management systems, programming, and troubleshooting problems.Preferred Experience:3+ years in software development and/or data analytics at the analyst level. Experience in statistics, process modeling, monitoring, and redesign, and in utilizing visualization features in Tableau.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent analytical skills. Ability to creatively solve problems. Experience clearly communicating technical information to nontechnical audiences at all levels of an organization. Strong team player. Willingness to conduct user interviews and trainings. Proficiency with data analysis features in MS Excel. Experience with statistics and SQL.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Experience with SQL (Server and Management Studio); JavaScript; ASP and ASP.net; Amazon Web Services (AWS); Visual Studio; Tableau; statistical software and statistics; PeopleSoft Campus Solutions; LINQ; ETL. Quality Assurance (QA) testing of web applications. Experience with both financial, human resource, and student information data systems. Proven ability to develop effective business relationships and build consensus. Well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.
