Job Details
The FCPC Electrical Technician supports the Operations Supervisor for the FCPC (Field Coil Power Conversion) system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance and troubleshooting activities independently or with minimal supervision for the electrical power conversion equipment, consisting of multi-megawatt thyristor rectifiers, current limiting reactors, isolation and grounding switches, hardwired control systems and various protection, measurement and monitoring systems. Assists with FCPC modifications associated with the current project as necessary. Effectively supports the FCPC group through integrated system testing and into project operations. Assists with the implementation of testing and maintenance activities of specialized and complex electrical and electronic devices, assemblies and systems, according to instructions, technical manuals, or own knowledge of systems, components and their functions.
Qualifications- Technical institute or AA degree with 2+ years of experience in troubleshooting, testing and repairing of electrical/electronic equipment; or no degree and 5 + years of experience in troubleshooting, testing and repairing of electrical/electronic equipment.
- Requires a motivated individual with a willingness to learn and with the ability to understand and interpret electrical schematic drawings and technical manuals and procedures. Requires an ability to perform hands-on electrical tasks such as terminating control wiring, installing power cables and using electrical test equipment.
- Knowledge of high power electrical/electronic equipment (MW range) and experience with electrical test equipment is a plus.
