Overview

 

Claflin University is seeking to hire an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach.

Responsibilities

 

The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach reports to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the implementation of an intercollegiate sports program that focuses on high quality competition and academic success of all student-athletes. Specific duties are as follows:

 

• Ensure that all student-athletes comply with the rules and regulations of the CIAA and the NCAA.  

• Ensure all student-athletes meet proper eligibility requirements and file all required eligibility documentation as specified by the Compliance

   Office.

• Recruit for the intercollegiate athletic program in consultation with the Office of Admissions and Records.

• Ensure that all team players are monitored during mid-semester and at semester's end to determine academic progress in consultation with

   the Athletics Academic Support Counselor.

• Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in the successful administration of drug testing to student-athletes.

• Submit requisitions for team travel and coordinate logistics for all away games and competitions.

• At the end of each semester, provide a report on the academic status of all student-athletes, including GPA and recommended remedial

   assistance from Athletics Academic Support Counselor.      

• Monitor the awarding and returning of all athletic equipment, supplies, and uniforms given to student-athletes.

• Prepare the season competition schedule for a submittal to the Athletics Director and Compliance Office for endorsement.

 

 

Qualifications

 

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of coaching experience. Applicant must be knowledgeable of the rules, regulations, bylaws, and procedures of the CIAA and NCAA. Ability to communicate effectively; plan, organize, provide leadership and direction; explain rules, guidelines, and regulations; and complete required reports, forms, and other documents required. The candidate must be able to perform independently with minimum supervision.
