The University of Cincinnati (UC) Department of Athletics seeks applications for a Director, Digital Media and Strategy (Digital Communications Specialist) to manage and innovate the @GoBearcats social media accounts and overall digital content strategy for the department, with a focus on compelling storytelling, strengthening fan engagement and driving revenue. This is a full-time, salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package.

One of three schools nationally during the 2018-2019 season to appear in a bowl game, earn NCAA Tournament appearances in baseball, men’s basketball and women’s volleyball, and participate in the women’s basketball postseason, there has never been a better time to be a Cincinnati Bearcat. Following our third 11-win season in football program history, the 2019 season features four ESPN and ABC National games, including the kickoff of the college football season on Thursday, August 29th against UCLA in the recently renovated ($90 million) historic Nippert Stadium – the gem of college football. Fueled by nine consecutive men’s basketball NCAA Tournament appearances, season tickets in the newly renovated ($87 million) Fifth Third Arena, the finest on-campus facility in the country, sold out during the inaugural season.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Create daily content for all online and social media platforms, with a focus on compelling storytelling, strengthening fan engagement and driving revenueDevelop your unique voice and personality to establish consistent messaging across all social and digital media platforms via creative, innovative and timely content deliveryLead ideation and develop strategy for @GoBearcats social media accounts, with a focus on content, promotion, engagement and conversion strategiesProactively pursue new, creative and innovative methods for enhancing the @GoBearcats presence, including continued awareness of trends in emerging media and digital technologiesIdentify Key Performance Indicators to measure social media engagement and prepare analytics-based reports to demonstrate growth and progress toward goalsMaintain overall content calendars for efficient departmental communication and awarenessMonitor, listen and respond to users in a “social” way while cultivating leads and converting salesPartner with the external team to maximize the impact of our brand strategy and messaging, while ensuring content on all channels is accurate and meets brand standardsPartner with University of Cincinnati academic programs to develop an undergraduate content creation team to support the overall enhancement of the Bearcats digital presenceAttend and cover Cincinnati Bearcats events including home games and occasional travel to road games and postseason tournamentsAssist with photography, graphic design, and video editing and production as neededOther duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree with one (1) year experience; -OR- Associate's degree with three (3) years’ experience; -OR- five (5) years’ experience. Experience must be related to designing, developing, testing, and maintaining websites.

Preferred Qualifications

    Proficient understanding of all social media platforms and content typesProficiency in Adobe Creative SuiteVideo experiencePhotography experience
