Position Summary

May counsel and confer with students and prospective students within a program of study or regarding a student service; provides program and departmental procedures, policies, goals and objectives, technical guidance and problem resolution. Works closely with students transferring to UGA College of Education.

TRANSFER STUDENT RECRUITMENT and ADVISING

● Coordinates and explores undergraduate recruitment opportunities and assists students looking to complete a transfer to UGA
● Serves as the contact for outside organizations seeking information on recruiting events such as Transfer counselors and Transfer institutions in and outside USG
● Serves as contact person for all inquiries from prospective undergraduate transfer students
● Serves as contact for meeting with transfer students one on one for prospective student visits about transfer and transfer equivalency
● Organize, promote, and carry out visit events for prospective Transfer students and their families on a monthly basis (Transfer Tuesday Visit Event Program
● Tracks the progress of current visit programs with a mid-year and end of year review to better the program from year to year
● Understands UGA policy on the Core to Core transfer and assists prospective transfer students with course questions regarding transfer policy
● Coordinates and explores transfer recruitment opportunities from 2 year and 4 year institutions and conducts the implementation of endeavors approved by the Director of Student Engagement
● Serves as the contact for outside organizations seeking information on recruiting events also attends these events as COE Representative
● Works with Advisors to assist and oversee private visits/meetings with prospective students

RETAINMENT and PROGRAMMING for TRANSFER STUDENTS
● Coordinates and explores undergraduate recruitment opportunities and assists students looking to complete a transfer to UGA
● Maintains COE Transfer Handbook and other transfer student intake materials
● Teach College of Education Transfer Seminar (EDUC 4200) during fall and spring semesters
● Collaborate with Office of Student Services staff on Transfer Orientation during Summer, Fall and Spring semesters.
● Explores and researches ways to serve underrepresented student populations
● Plans events and coordinates these events for retention of COE Transfer students
● Works with Transfer Ambassadors, Tau Sigma and other student groups to include COE events and/or table in our buildings for our students.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
● Maintains prospective student data in a database to track event attendance, student program involvement, etc. Creates and provides reports.
● Works with leadership to create and implement a strategic recruitment plan for transfer students and their recruitment and retention within COE
● Builds relationships with Program Coordinators, Departments, UGA Offices, and members of recruiting networks
● Works with the web team to design and maintain the prospective student visit forms and web features
● Collaborate with Recruitment and Visit coordinator to ensure that recruitment policies and strategic plans are cohesive.
● Collaborate with Advisors on best practices when working with transfer students before, during and after their transfer.

Serving on ARC, become member of NISTS, gets involved with leadership with Tau Sigma, assists on other transfer related committees within UGA or COE.
