The Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO), which is administered by the Honors Program, facilitates sustained, progressive, faculty mentored undergraduate research in any discipline. Through CURO, undergraduates can pursue faculty mentored research and take advantage of academic credit, funding, and presentation opportunities.

Position Summary

This position will report to and provide administrative support to the Associate Director of the Honors Program and the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO). This position will additionally provide point-of-contact support for the Honors Program and CURO; and coordinate, manage, and assist with CURO/Honors events and programs.

The Associate Director is in charge of the day-to-day operations of CURO, which includes academic programs, scholarships, and the CURO Symposium. In the Honors Program, the Associate Director oversees academic advising, coordinates curricular offerings, develops future initiatives, supervises several staff members, and represents Honors and CURO at the University, regionally, and nationally.

-Excellent data management skills, with proven ability to collect, process, organize, and review large volumes of data and prepare reports
-Advanced knowledge of Excel, Adobe (Acrobat DC) and Word, and ability to learn new software
-Strong written and oral communication skills, including comfort with public speaking
-Ability to work effectively in a collegial manner with students, faculty, staff, and external entities; strong interpersonal skills
-Interest in working with undergraduate students and ability to handle sensitive situations and documentation in a caring and confidential manner
-Respect, appreciation, and support for diversity and inclusion

Serve as administrative support for the Associate Director of the Honors Program and CURO:
-Maintain the calendar for the Associate Director
-Support Associate Director with correspondence regarding Honors and CURO
-Develop filing systems, maintain file accuracy, and purge files in accordance with records retention policies
-Prepare and analyze regular and ad hoc reporting to further intra and inter-departmental goals
-Assist Associate Director with collection, processing, analysis of data, and preparation of reports
-Attend and keep records for Associate Director in meetings
-Other duties as assigned

Support business manager with CURO financial needs:
-Process financial expenses for CURO
-Process travel expense reimbursements
-Ensure CURO Research Assistantships and Summer Fellowships are disbursed to students, which includes working with students, processing CURO CRA documentation for colleges and departments with awardees, posting positions within UGAjobs, and working with all units and departments involved in the process
-Assist business manager as necessary regarding CURO financial needs

Serve as point-of-contact for CURO and the Honors Program; and coordinate, manage, and assist with CURO/Honors programs and events:
-Initiate and cultivate positive working relationships between CURO and units across campus to further CURO’s mission and reach
-Create and deliver audience-oriented informational presentations and workshops for CURO as needed in department, during orientation, and across campus
-Respond to general inquiries, in person, phone, or email about CURO coursework, funding, and presentation opportunities
-Review, process, and load HONS-prefixed internship, research and thesis course applications; serve as Honors course scheduler
-Coordinate Promising Scholars event, including applications, timelines, invitations, program agenda, and volunteer assignments and management; plan CURO Honors Scholars special events and graduation dinner; assist with team efforts and events, including assisting the CURO Program Coordinator in the planning and implementation of the CURO Symposium
-Compile and edit the CURO Symposium Book of Abstracts, including front and back matter, schedules, and special thanks, in collaboration with the CURO team, and with assistance from Communications Coordinator
-Solicit and process materials for CURO/Honors faculty and student awards
-Review and score applications for the CURO Honors Scholarship, CURO Summer Fellowship, CURO Research Assistantship, and Foundation Fellowship
-Assist Associate Director, Program Coordinator, and Communications Coordinator as needed for development and distribution of press releases, flyers, website edits, or other documentation
-Fill in when necessary for Honors Program front desk coverage or for other Honors Program information sessions or events
-Other duties as assigned
