Preferred QualificationsPosition Summary

This position is a limited term position located in Cortona Italy, beginning approximately April 1, 2020 and ending approximately August 1, 2021. The individual holding the position will be responsible for:
providing management of the dorm and studio facilities at UGA Cortona under the direction of the Director and Associate Director.

Assisting UGA Cortona residential center staff during a crisis or emergency, maintaining appropriate confidentiality; serving as the overnight emergency contact to the students in the dorm;

Supporting, communicating, and enforcing all UGA Cortona residential center policies, procedures, and regulations;

Conducting student check-in and check-out of Cortona residential center at the beginning and end of each session;

Providing communications to students during the course of the programming, as directed;

Participating in all appropriate UGA Cortona meetings including, but not limited to: weekly staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with supervisor, and faculty meetings, as appropriate. Participating in student excursions, carrying out various duties when traveling;

Completing various reports including, but not limited to: weekly reports, incident documentation, referrals and/or problems;

Engaging and encouraging students to be involved in Cortona program events, meetings, and activities and by participating in/attending these events;

Performing other duties consistent with the purpose of the position, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Candidate should possess strong communication skills, especially within group and communal environments.

Reside in the John D. Kehoe Center in Cortona, Italy, a small, historic, and close-knit Tuscan hill town for approximately 15 months.

Physical Demands

Will move in hilly community. Lift and carry 25 lbs. or more.

Oversee the John D. Kehoe Cortona Center (dorm) and its residents, attending to the facility needs; provide support to students for various needs/services; provide overnight support to students for emergencies; assist with emergencies that may arise in the dorm 24/7 when students are on the ground. Manage facility issues related to IT, security, communal spaces, plumbing, laundry facilities, gardens/grounds keeping, risk management, as well as repairs of small appliances, minor woodshop repairs, etc. Provide maintenance and upkeep to art studios.

Assist Cortona Program Director, Associate Director, program staff or program faculty in studio and classroom areas with various facility related responsibilities. Assist with other activities including the program art exhibition, communicating schedules and events to students, attending excursions and carrying out various duties.
