The Beirne B. Carter Center for Immunology Research at the University of Virginia seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Victor Engelhard. The incumbent joins an interactive group of motivated scientists to oversee and carry forward studies of vascular endothelial cells as modulators of T-cell immune responses in the context of cancer. During this postdoctoral training, the successful candidate will examine alterations in the immunological characteristics of tumor endothelial cell homing receptor ligand expression in response to inhibitors of angiogenesis, checkpoint blockade, or pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines. The consequences of these changes for T cell infiltration into tumors and subsequent tumor control will also be examined.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: PhD or MD in microbiology, immunology, or other relevant science by the start date
Experience: Must have at least one year of postdoctoral experience. The successful candidate is self-motivated and curious; has effective bench, leadership and interpersonal skills; works well in a team-oriented culture of basic scientists and clinicians; and has effective oral and written communication skills. Previous training in immunology is essential, and past experience in analyzing murine and human T cell immune responses to tumors is highly preferred.
