ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, is seeking to hire a Board-Eligible or Certified, Fellowship-trained Orthopaedic surgeon in Hip and Knee Joint Replacement to start August 2020. Qualified applicants must have demonstrated clinical expertise and have demonstrated the ability to perform quality basic scientific or clinical research.

Candidates must have a MD and be board-eligible or board-certified. A fellowship in adult reconstruction is expected as well as evidence of academic productivity. Training and exposure in the broad range of surgical techniques is preferable, particularly as it relates to primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, trauma, infection, and rapid recovery surgical protocols. Salary and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications.

The position will remain open to applications until filled.

The incumbent joins a group of 29 orthopaedic faculty who share emergency call coverage and assist in initial management of emergent musculoskeletal conditions. The Adult Reconstruction Division currently has three surgeons and three physician assistants to manage the patient population. The candidate will have the opportunity to see patients in several outpatient clinic sites, and will perform surgery in both the in-patient and the out-patient areas of the UVA Health System. The candidate will also be expected to help develop the outpatient joint replacement program at the new musculoskeletal center which is currently under construction.
