QualificationsJob Summary:The successful candidate will have a schedule inwhich the individual works with other attending physicians on the Pediatric BMT-CTservices in the supervision of advance practice providers, fellows, andresidents in organizing each day's inpatient rounds, procedures, and familyconferences. The schedule is such that there is dedicated time for academicactivity in Clinical or Translational research in any of the specialties, orother interests as developed by the candidate and agreed upon by the Sectionleadership. You will have approximately 75% of your time spent conductingresearch and 25% of your time spent as a faculty member practicing PediatricHematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant-Cellular Therapeutics independentlyin the inpatient and outpatient setting. Rank will be negotiated with the final candidate, the rankof Associate Professor will be considered for those with additional academicaccomplishments above and beyond the Assistant Professor rank.


Examples of Work Performed:Research•Conduct clinical, translational or basic science (laboratory-based) researchdirectly related to the field of Pediatric Bone Marrow/Stem CellTransplantation and Cellular Therapy. This research should create new knowledge with the goal of improvingoutcomes for the above-mentioned patients;•A track record of academic accomplishments in the form of manuscripts,presentations and grant funding is required;•There is an expectation that the applicant will secure independent funding;•Allocation of effort may be adjusted based on success in obtaining independentfunding.
Clinical •Provide comprehensive medical care to Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and/orBone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant-Cellular Therapy patients and their familiesin both Inpatient and Outpatient Settings. Manage patient care in collaborationwith other physicians, care providers, and other members of theinterdisciplinary team; •Participate in teaching and research activities; •Duties in this faculty position include teaching, research, and serviceresponsibilities. In this capacity, the position will seek new biologicaltargets for relevant therapies for pediatric cancers and related disorders tobe used in phase 1/2 clinical trials as well as in standard of care and FDAapproved indications; •Actively supervise and mentor fellows, graduate students, residents andmedical students including career guidance and teaching.
Your clinical responsibilities will include: • Approximately 4-6 weeks per year coverage as the attending physicianresponsible for oversight of the inpatient Oncology and/or BMT-CT service.• Share holiday and weekend call with other Hem/Onc/BMT-CT faculty members.• Provide coverage outpatient clinics at Children's Hospital Colorado, whichmay also include occasional clinic coverage at the South and/or ColoradoSprings Campuses.
Minimum Qualifications:• MD or DO• Board eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology; must successfully pass BoardCertification within three years of completion of fellowship.• Active or ability to obtain an unrestricted Colorado state medical licenseand DEA certification;• Completed a Fellowship in pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Preferred Qualifications:• 2 years of experience in independent care ofpediatric hematology/oncology/BMT-CT patients; • Pediatric BMT subspecialty training preferred (can substitute for a year ofexperience listed above);• Qualified to receive sustained independent funding of clinical research orlaboratory work, with preference given to candidates who have secured at leastone cycle of renewed funding.
Competencies:• Ability to independently care for and managecomplex Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT-CT patients in an academic setting;• High customer service skills, team-based patient care, and ability to meetproductivity targets are expected.
Conditions of Employment:• Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug testthrough Children's Hospital Colorado.• Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offenderbackground check.
