General Summary This position works directly with the student-athletes to develop all physical qualities such as speed, strength, power, agility, flexibility and cardiovascular/muscular endurance, including nutritional and drug-free restorative considerations to improve athletic performance and prevent injury in a given sport. In addition, the Assistant Strength Coach will work with the strength & conditioning staff to organize and administer the resources of the training facility to obtain the aforementioned goals and objectives. This includes scheduling of the facility and graduate assistants. Further, this position will assist the Director of Strength and Conditioning with purchases of equipment and facility upkeep needs.
Additional Information:
Required Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree.
2. Certification through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC certification) or the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS certification) or obtained within 60 days of hire.
3. Strong communication skills.
4. Demonstrated commitment to a high degree of integrity and adherence to the University, NCAA, and Missouri Valley Conference rules and regulations.
5. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
Desired Qualifications: 1. Master's degree.
2. Two (2) years collegiate experience.
3. Ability to motivate intercollegiate student-athletes.
4. Ability to identify strengths and deficiencies in student-athletes' technical and physical execution and the ability to design individual workouts to address those issues to maximize performance.
5. Knowledge and ability to teach speed, agility and flexibility training.
