This position is responsible to assisting the Head Baseball Coach in creating and maintaining a successful program for the institution on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Assists in identifying and recruiting academically and athletically talented student-athletes

• Assists in/with scheduling of officials acquiring game balls, preparation of field; on field coaching; field clean up and lockdown

• Assists with maintenance of Baseball field and other athletic facilities

• Assists in monitoring academic; social and personal development of Baseball student-athletes

• Assists in promoting Middle Georgia State University and the Baseball program to the Community and all forms of Media

• Develops and maintains effective relationships and communications with students, colleagues, staff, alumni and parents to insure the success and growth of the program

• Assists in maintaining and inventorying equipment

• Works in the Cochran Wellness Center for hours specified by the Director

• Performs related duties as assigned by Head Coach or Athletics Administration

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service. Experience as a player or coach at the collegiate or professional level may substitute for education requirements. Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles. Knowledge of sports field maintenance principles. Knowledge of Baseball rules and principles. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in the coaching and training of student athletes. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in oral and written communications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of National Collegiate Association (NCAA), National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and Affiliated Conference rules and regulations.
